Valeria Howard
Senior Vice President - Corporate Risk Management and Commercial Lines
Valeria Howard is currently Senior Vice-President of Corporate Risk Management and Commercial Lines Operation for Van Gilder Insurance Corporation, one of the nation’s largest Insurance Brokerage firms. She has worked for the Van Gilder organization since September 1998.
As the Director of the Corporate Risk Management Solutions Group, Valeria is responsible for Van Gilder’s Risk Assessment team, Risk Control Team and Claims Division. Valeria works extensively with clients with large SIRs and deductibles, who value her skills and assistance in the management of their losses. She and her team, act as an extension of the client’s Risk Management Team for Van Gilder. Valeria also has responsibility for the Commercial Lines operation, which assist clients to implement the most thorough insurance programs/policies to minimize their exposures and protect assets.
In addition to her professional career, Valeria finds time to serve her community. She has been a Big Sister in the Big Sisters program, mentored African American girls in a weekly open forum program, and frequently speaks to African American youth about how to be competitive in a diverse society. Her purpose is to make sure our youth learn how to make the most of their abilities and opportunities so they can become successful adults.
Valeria also volunteers with various political candidates and community organizations. She has devoted her skills and time to the NAACP, Metropolitan Urban League of Denver, the Black America West Museum and Heritage Center, as well as other local organizations too numerous to mention.
Valeria spent over 23 years as Aetna/Travelers Claims Manager for the Western Region.
